Spammed YouTube Service Request Links to Pharmafraud

One of the most popular sites on the Web, YouTube, has again become a target of Cyber Criminals. Similar to the myriad other service request emails that have been circulating over the past couple years, the hapless email recipient receives an email similar to the one shown below.
While innocent enough on the surface, clicking any of the links in the email take you to an entirely different page than what you would expect, in this case a pharmaceuticals website "allegedly" based in Toronto, Canada.
Taking a moment to look a bit closer at this email, it can easily be discounted as fraudulent:
- This email isn't valid unless you recently opened a Service request with YouTube
- Mouse over one of the links in the email and you will see that they do not take you to YouTube
In general, users should avoid clicking links in emails referencing ticket numbers for a service or request that they did not make. eSoft has reported on similar Pharma Fraud attacks in this blog several times over recent years.
eSoft has categorized this site in the Phishing/Fraud category to prevent access to the page, and protect users using secure web filtering. eSoft's SpamFilter link-analysis would prevent users from ever seeing this email in their Inbox.
